Express Entry

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

This program is for foreign skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently. The foreign nationals are assessed against the selection grid (education, language, experience, age etc.) The foreign nationals who score 67 points or more on the selection grid are eligible to create a profile in the Express Entry system.

  • At least one year of paid full-time (or the equivalent in part-time) continuous work experience) in the skill type 0, A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
  • Language skills: Applicants must take the approved language tests in English or French and meet the minimum language requirements.
  • Applicants are also required to meet the education and age criteria.

Federal Skilled Trades

Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents. This program targets graduates from post-secondary institutions and temporary foreign nationals with Canadian experience to transition to the permanent resident status.

  • At least 12 months of full-time (or an equivalent in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years in skill type 0, A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Work experience in Canada must be obtained with proper work authorization.
  • Language skills: Applicants must take the approved language tests in English or French and meet the minimum language requirements.
  • Plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
